News Release: Coconino County seeks public input on 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County Emergency Management has released the draft 2026 Coconino County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for public review and comment throughout May.

This comprehensive plan identifies natural hazards that pose risks to communities across Coconino County and outlines strategies to reduce long-term vulnerability to those hazards. Developed through a collaborative process, the plan includes participation from Coconino County; the cities of Flagstaff, Page and Williams; the towns of Tusayan and Fredonia; and Northern Arizona University, along with other stakeholders and partner agencies.

Public participation is a key component of the hazard mitigation planning process. Community members, businesses and interested stakeholders are encouraged to review the draft plan and provide feedback to help ensure it reflects local priorities, concerns and insights.

The draft plan is available at coconino.az.gov/2474/Hazard-Mitigation-Plan.

Public comments will be accepted through May 31, 2026, via e-mail at emergencymanagement@coconino.az.gov or online at coconino.az.gov/hmpfeedback.

Following the comment period, the plan will be finalized for adoption.
