Press Release: Grand Canyon Schools Superintendent Search

February 12, 2014

The Governing Board of the Grand Canyon School District has begun the process to replace Superintendent Dr. Nancy Alexander who will be leaving the district at the end of the current school year.  At their meeting held on February 11, the Board approved a contract with Aylstock Consulting, LLC to lead the Board in the superintendent search.  Mike Aylstock proposed a tentative timeline for the search that would culminate with the Board making the selection for the new superintendent in early May.

In an effort to provide the community input into the selection process, Mr. Aylstock will conduct meetings to receive suggestions from the community with respect to expectations of the new superintendent.  This information will be compiled and presented to the Governing Board as the stated qualifications and characteristics of applicants for the position are developed.

These meetings have been scheduled in the Room 404, adjacent to the District Office, on Tuesday, February 18.  Grand Canyon High School students will have the chance to share their ideas with Mr. Aylstock beginning at 3:45 p.m.  School District employees can meet with the consultant beginning at 4:30 p.m.  Interested parents and community members are invited to provide their input on the position starting at 5:30 p.m.  The Governing Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. to review the comments received at the forums and finalize the qualifications and expectations of the position.
