Tusayan, Ariz., July 25, 2016—For Immediate Release. With minimal growth of the fire, due to the monsoonal rains late yesterday, firefighters hope to better obtain their objectives today. Forest road 2719, which is on the south end of the fire and connected to FS road 302 is a main goal to remove the burnable materials and create a defensible space.

During the monsoon season, lightning is a high priority with safety awareness for firefighters on the fire line. When lightning gets too close, personnel is pulled off the line and moved to an area that is deemed secure throughout its duration until it is safe to return. Due to the rain smoke production was reduced drastically, however, when conditions dry out expectations for an increase of smoke will increase.
