Not Quite There On Town Park Agreement
December 26, 2017
The Tusayan Town Council and the Grand Canyon School District have yet to reach an agreement on an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) to move ahead on the sports complex project. The Town is seeking guarantees that the general public will have access to the facility.
Attorneys for the School District and the Town thought they had struck a 20 deal. However, that was before the Town Attorney, William Sims, discovered that Tusayan could invest another five or six million dollars into the facility. When Sims learned of the new figure he told the Tusayan Town Council NOT to approve the agreement.
Both sides are now working on a new agreement that could be ready in time for the mid-January council meeting.
