Tusayan Fire Department Hopes For Continued Support From The Town

The Tusayan Fire Department received $325,000 from Tusayan for the current budget and it hopes to get $335 for next year’s budget. In 2017, the Tusayan Fire Department responded to 330 calls for service. They include 223 medical calls and 12 calls for fires in town.
The fire department continues to seek outside grant money such as its recent application with the Gila River Indian Community for $46,000 to purchase a new heart monitor. The Tribal Government uses gaming funds to assist Arizona fire districts. The district is looking at some more expenses next year as its ladder truck, which it bought used, is in need of major repairs or replacement.
The Fire District is also moving ahead with adding some small tracts of land at the airport and near the school to its service area. When the map for the district was originally drawn.
The Town is also asking the Fire District to consider adding the 10X property to its boundaries.
