Two candidates have filed to run for mayor and three have filed seeking two open seats on the Tusayan Town Council. 

Incumbant Mayor Craig Sanderson is facing a challenge from Councilman John Schoppmann.

Including Schoppmann's seat, there are two open seats on the Tusayan Town Council. Councilmember David Chavez is seekiing relelection. Also running are Bradly Harris and Rob Baldosky.

According to Town Clerk Bruce Northern the deadline to file nominating paperwork way May 30th, however the town website and the candidate packet said June 1 was the deadline. Northern said that was a clerical error.

The council terms last four years. The mayor’s term is for two years. A minimum of three valid signatures was required to get on the ballot.
