Town Council Updates

April 19, 2019

New construction remains stalled at the 10X affordable housing project as the contractor continues to mitigate the site after the Town failed to follow Coconino County Flood Plain rules. At an April council meeting the general contractor told members, “Our view of our construction management portion of the 10X housing project, it’s on hold. What we are doing construction wise is mitigation.” Late spring snows had slowed down the mitigation.

Meanwhile the deadline to find a “project manager” for the 10X project has been extended to the end of April as the search for a qualified applicant continues. Cost over-runs and flood plain issues prompted to Town Council to create the position at the urging of Councilmember Robb Baldosky.

High speed internet is on its way to Tusayan. The town and its internet vendor are in the process of setting up as many as 175 high speed connections via microwave signals. Announcements from the Town on how residents can sign up are about a month away. The Town would subsidize a basic connection but residents would have the option to pay more if they want extra bandwidth.
