Rumors Of Town Clerk Departure Surface At Town Council Meeting
June 15, 2019
There has been no official announcement on Town Clerk Bruce Northern’s future. Even so, Tusayan Fire Chief Greg Brush addressed the issue when he spoke to the Town Council June 12th. He thanked the Town Council for its past support. Then Chief Brush, speaking as a member of the community, asked the Council to keep Northern, “I heard about the possibility about Bruch Northern leaving. I wanted to say he’s a good person and I know he strives to bring all parties in town together. He’s a bridge builder.”
Councilman Baldosky said he also heard rumors that Northern would be leaving. “I also heard that Bruce would be leaving at the end of the month and that it was the will of four out of the five councilors. I am pretty disappointed that I was not one of those councilors who were asked if Bruce was to be moving on.”
Baldosky went on to say that since he has taken office a lot of major missteps have taken place and he then called for a performance review for Town Manager Eric Duthie.
While no one directly disputed rumors of Northern’s departure, Mayor Sanderson did say he once rejected a resignation letter.
The council then agreed to set an evaluation of the Town Manager on a future agenda. Vice Mayor Brady Harris stated he wanted to remind the community that the Town Manager’s actions have been indicative of previous council’s direction.
