Elling Halvorson, local business owner and founder and chairman of Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters in Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on April 16. He was 88 years old.

In addition to the air tour business Halvorson had numerous local business interests such as the Best Western Squire Inn, and the Big E Steakhouse.

He opened the air tour operation in 1965 and increased the trend of helicopter oriented tourism for the Grand Canyon.

Elling had five children, as well as eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His daughter Brenda currently serves as CEO of Papillon.
