May 8, 2020
Tusayan may be spending as much as $800,000 to assist residents and the business community impacted by COVID-19. The Town Council approved the spending package at a May 6th meeting. Expenditures include $145,000 for food assistance and computers for students so they can study remotely.
$250,000 has been set aside to promote the Town when the canyon re-opens. There is also $150,000 available for aid to businesses similar to the Federal Small Business Assistance Loan Program.
At its April 28th meeting the Town Council also agreed to pursue an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Grand Canyon School District to make progress on the long delayed Sports Complex. Soccer and ball fields have been in the planning stages for years but no construction has taken place.
