Budget Override Passes

Voters in Tusayan have passed a budget override election, the vote was 57 to 37 according to a Town of Tusayan News release. That means the Town will no longer have to operate under s a state spending limit of $1.4 million a year. Another election is scheduled in November to give the Town permission to exceed state limits for four years under the Home Rule option.
A home rule election was nullified in 2018 because of clerical errors. In 2019, a budget override was rejected boy voters.
Tusayan generates more than $4 million a year in sales tax revenues and has more than $9 million in cash reserves according to the Town news release. The spending cap is lifted effective July first.
