Tusayan Town Council requires face covering in all indoor and enclosed public spaces beginning 8 a.m. Saturday

June 26, 2020

The Tusayan Town Council on June 24 directed that the mayor sign a proclamation to require the wearing of face coverings in any enclosed and indoor public spaces where social distancing is difficult. The proclamation takes effect Saturday, June 27 at 8 a.m.

The Governor of Arizona last week authorized the local government to decide on this issue. Coconino County implemented a requirement soon after, and the Grand Canyon National Park has indicated that they believe the County requirement applies to all park visitors and staff.

"Our top priority is the health and safety of our residents and visitors," said Mayor Craig Sanderson. "Our economy is visitor-dependent and the majority of the town businesses expressed support for requiring face coverings."
