No Deal Yet Between The Tusayan Sanitary District And Stilo
April 22, 2021
Whether or not Italian developer Stilo can work with the Tusayan Sanitary District to provide sewer service to its massive development project is still an open question.
At a recent Tusayan Town Council meeting, Stilo said it wasn’t ready to proceed with a memo of understanding with the Sanitary District. An attorney for the developer said not enough material facts are known that would allow the negotiation to move forward at this time. The attorney did say Stilo is committed to working with the Sanitary District.
Sanitary District Chairman Pete Shearer tells the Watchdog he is disappointed and said Stilo seems to be getting in the way of its own project. Shearer said the primary goal of the Sanitary District is to make sure the aquifer is protected.
Stilo does not think this lack of progress will impact its application to use Forest Service roads to facilitate its massive project that would see thousands of homes and three million square feet of commercial space added to the community.
