COVID Funds Distributed To Residents
May 17, 2022
On Wednesday May 18th, Tusayan Town Hall will distribute Cash Payment checks (to those that put in qualified applications). Individuals are required to appear in person with an ID to receive their check.
Mayor Clarinda Vail led the effort to use federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to assist residents economically impacted by COVID. Those who applied will receive checks of about $550.
In 2021, Tusayan received the first of two payments of $96,000. Although the entire ARPA distribution is being made available for distribution now, only half of the distribution has been paid out to the Town. Once the other half is received, the funds will be credited back to the Town for any payments made out now.
Mayor Vail wants to expand this concept and distribute some surplus sales tax funds to residents as well. However that plan is opposed by Vice Mayor Brady Harris, and Council Members Becky Wirth and Robb Baldosky.
