Town Council Briefs (Update on Turkey Distribution)
October 21, 2022
Tusayan’s Thanksgiving meal distribution is facing some challenges this year. Vice Mayor Brady Harris says there has been some difficulty obtaining donations this year. The town expects to receive just 30 to 50 turkeys. When those run out volunteers will be distributing hens. Harris said sourcing is incredibly difficult.
The distribution will be 4-6pm on Tuesday, November 15th at the Grand Canyon Airport Terminal.
Individuals MUST sign up for the turkey distribution at the town website (link below). There is a pop up on the homepage.
Tusayan is pursuing a 90 tourism promotion based on focus group research. The town has distributed a survey and will base its marketing tag lines based on responses. Here is a link.
The Town Council voted to participate in the Arizona Office of Tourism Strategic Planning Cohort Program. Town Manager Charlie Hendrix says this will help the Town come up with a long-term strategic plan beyond 90 days.
Tusayan is also applying for a community development block grant which could net as much as $350,000. The money could be used to help from the town’s sports complex and Ramada.
