Tusayan Seeking New Councilmember

January 16, 2023

Tusayan is taking applications for an open Town Council position. David Chavez was elected to the office but failed to show up for his swearing in. Nor did he respond to previous emails from the Town. It’s believed he is no longer a resident of Tusayan as he no longer works as GM of the Grand Canyon Squire Inn.

Any Tusayan resident interested in filling the open seat can apply at Town Hall.

The “Citizen Committee Application Form.” The form can be found  at this link.

Enter “Council Vacancy” as the answer to question “What Board of Committee in which interested?”

Then return the form to Town Hall (either in person or via email to tusayantownmanager@tusayan-az.gov) no later than 5pm on February 8, 2023.

Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview at the February 14th Town Council meeting. The Council may choose to fill this or other board vacancies at the February 14th Council meeting or at a subsequent meeting based on the interviews.

The process for filling the vacancy was already in the town code.

In other Town Council news, Council Member/ Fire Chief Greg Bush has been named as Vice Mayor replacing Brady Harris. Long time Council Member Becky Wirth, who had once held the post, "respectfully declined" the position.
