As residents continue to dig their way out of the snow, Tusayan Fire Chief Greg Brush is thanking everyone for shoveling and plowing but he is asking that those efforts don’t bury the fire hydrants.

“When plowing, please try not to pile additional snow on the hydrant. If there is snow accumulation at the hydrant, we are asking for assistance from the businesses to clear their hydrants."

A three foot perimeter is preferred.

Every hydrant in town should have red flag attached to make it easier to find them and avoid accidentally piling snow on top during plowing operations.  If you have a hydrant that’s missing a flag, call TFD at 638-3473.
