Proposed Arizona Public Service Rate Hike Could Harm Tusayan

March 21, 2023

The Town of Tusayan has some concerns about a proposed 27%  APS rate hike. The Mayor and Town Council have mentioned the hike several times at Town Council meeting and Town Manager Charlie Hendrix worries about the impact it will have on Town government and local businesses.

She said last month’s power bill at Town Hall was about $1,000.

And she thinks the 27% rate hike may be unsustainable given that markups would be passed down to the town from other vendors.  She hopes the rate hike request will be reconsidered.

The impact on residents is also front and center given the cost of living in Tusayan.

Hendrix says the Town Council continues to closely monitor the issue.
