Major Flood hits Tusayan. Updated

Heavy rains that began just after 3pm August 22nd have caused major flooding in Tusayan.
The Coconino County Sheriff's office says up to three inches of rain fell.
State Route 64 reopened in both directions shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday

Community Meeting
Today (Aug 24) at 6pm at Townhall there will be a Community Meeting to brief community members on the flood event and community services available.
Residents impacted by the Tusayan/Grand Canyon flooding can receive in-person assistance at a temporary Community Assistance Center. It will open starting today, August 24, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the building directly north of Townhall at the airport in Tusayan. More information can be found at http://www.coconino.az.gov/.
Trash Roll Offs
Two roll off bins will be available beginning late today at the Sports Complex site for residential use. Please do not place construction or foliage debris in the bins.
Water, Sand Bags, Food
Tusayan water is safe to drink. Bottled water is available outside of Townhall for pickup. Sandbags are also available for pickup. Go bags with food and essential items are now available for pickup. One individual is able to pick up for multiple families at this time.
