$550 Payments For Those Who Live And Work In Tusayan Thanks To Mayor and Council
September 21, 2023
Many people living and working in Tusayan are eligible for payments of $550. Tusayan is continuing to take applications for public assistance from an initiative spearheaded by the Tusayan Town Council and Mayor Clarinda Vail.
Through October 13, residents can apply for financial assistance thanks to a funds remaining from COVID relief. Mayor Vail and the current council set the funds aside so that they can directly benefit residents as opposed to just going into the general fund. Residents can apply for up to $550 in relief funds, that's the maximum amount that would not impact their taxes.
This is the second round of funds being distributed. The Town Council took the initiative on this more than a year ago and so far there have been no guidelines for local jurisdictions on such payments from the Arizona League of Cities and Towns.
People living or working in Tusayan with a household income of $79,500 a year or less are eligible.
The Town Council unanimously approved the payments during its September 13th meeting.
Application are available on the town website.Follow this link.
The checks will be available for pickup at Town Hall starting November 17th.
Meanwhile an anonymous donor is providing funds for residents impacted by the recent flood. The Coconino County Community Assistance Program has provided the Town a list of qualified applicants. On September 13th the Council directed staff to provide these applicants with a one-time payment of $200.
The local Rotary Club is also providing Gift Cards for individuals. Tusayan town staff is handling the delivery of the Rotary donation.
