Update: EKN Development Postpones Open House On Camper Village Project.
November 28, 2023
California based EKN Development has postponed its open house which was scheduled on November 30th to provide some details about its proposal to develop the Camper Village property where a number of workforce housing units are located. The property is also owned by and Italy’s Stilo corporation, a company with a controversial and troubled history operating in Tusayan.
On November 28th EKN emailed this message to potential attendees, "We are notifying you that the Community Event for the project at Camper Village has been postponed as we continue to prepare a comprehensive presentation for the community. We will be notifying the community once a future date has been established. For more information on the project, please visit our website www.aldeaatgrandcanyon.com."
An EKN representative said they are working internally and with outside consultants they don't feel they have a complete presentation just yet. They would like to present the project as a whole with consideration to questions and comments raised at previous meetings.
There were two open houses last year, in August and October. Not much in the way of details has been revealed since then. The original invite described the open house as, “This is an opportunity to review the proposed project, ask questions, and provide feedback prior to submittal of formal application for design review. Proposed in this plan are two hotels, workforce housing, retail, food and beverage, and public town space.”
This proposal may be of keen interest to the dozens of residents who live in the workforce housing that currently sits at Camper Village.
For more than a decade Italian developer Stilo and its former parcel partner, the Halvorson Family, have been sitting on this land as talk of projects have come and gone. EKN’s entry seems to have inspired this new outreach.
