7 Mile Lodge To Undergo Demolition As Tusayan Looks to Build New Town Hall

January 26, 2025

The Old 7 Mile Lodge is in the process of being torn down after the site was purchased by the Town of Tusayan.  Tusayan plans to build a new Town Hall there. The current Town Hall sits on land leased from the Grand Canyon Airport. Town Councilmember Josh Collet says Tusayan wants to create a long term home for City Hall with an eye toward the future with plenty of public input, “I do think it is important that everybody think as large as possible because it is difficult to upscale it after the fact and everybody needs to dream as big as possible.” The site is more centrally located than the current Town Hall.

Mayor Clarinda Vail echoes Collet’s belief that Tusayan should think long term and create a  centralized space for all the services and activities Tusayan provides now and in the future in addition to just a Town Hall, “We’re doing library services, we have a food bank, we have after school tutoring, we have a Santa Shack. We have a of things that could be provided as services in a new building.”

Collet feels a new town hall will also help Tusayan establish its own identity.

Before the building is torn down, Tusayan Fire will be using it for training.

Tusayan recently bought additional land that will eventually be used as a site for government employee housing.
