Tusayan Fire Receives High Marks

January 30, 2025

The Tusayan Fire District has received an ISO (Insurance Office Service) rating of three.

The scale is one to 10 with one being the highest. It marks a significant improvement over the years and places Tusayan Fire in the top 20% nationwide.

Fire Chief Greg Brush said, “In 2015, TFD was rated as a Class 6.  In 2020, TFD rose from a 6 to a 4, which is a respectable increase. TFD was just evaluated as a Class 3, placing our town's fire department in the top 17% of fire departments nationwide!  Obviously, a great deal of effort goes into earning the best evaluation possible over the 5-year period, and this is a huge commitment by everybody in the department.”

At the January Town Council meeting Chief Brush thanked to Town’s continued financial support.  Because Tusayan Fire is a Fire District as opposed to a Town Department, the town is not obligated to provide financial support. However given the massive numbers of people travelling through Tusayan, the town deems the support very necessary.

The 3 rating goes into effect February 1st and is good for five years. It can be a factor in lowering insurance rates.
