Clarinda Vail has been appointed to an advisory committed as the federal government establishes rules and restrictions regarding the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument.Vail will be serving on the as a resident and not in her capacity as Tusayan’s Mayor.

The Town of Tusayan has passed  an ordinance to restrict some camping within the town limits in places like the  sports complex or the Moqui Cookout site. The ordinance has the support of local law enforcement and mirrors rules in place in other cities and towns in the area. The town will be working closely with the Forest Service to make sure established camping areas are not impacted. It also helps in enforcing 14-day camping limits as well as addressing trash and fire safety.
