Tusayan Considers Veterans Memorials

February 22, 2025

The Tusayan Town Council is exploring creating a new Veterans Memorial.

Veteran Liaison John Davison made the presentation and said the Tusayan has a legacy of honoring veterans.

A ceremony pictured below took place in 1928.

He said Tusayan has been home to countless veterans dating back to the Civil War and at one time had an active American Legion Hall that dated back to 1953.

Davison said one option would be a digital kiosk that can be updated to include names, photos, and other information in addition to more traditional memorials such as sculptures.

The Town Council welcomed the proposal and asked the Town Manager to explore options including Tusayan becoming an official Purple Heart Community.

Mayor Clarinda Vail thanked the presenters and said the Town will definitely be in touch.
