September 9, 2025

Phoenix, AZ – Governor Katie Hobbs traveled the Grand canyon September 4th to announce the creation of a new website  www.dragonbravo.az.gov . It will serve as a centralized hub of information for small businesses, families, and local communities recovering from the Dragon Bravo and White Sage Fires. s

Hobbs traveled to Tusayan Town hall and met with Mayor Clarinda Vail who said, “A huge thank you to Governor Hobbs and The Arizona Office of Tourism for coming, for their leadership in putting a spotlight on Grand Canyon South Rim tourism and getting the word out that the south rim is open and not impacted by the north rim fire. By helping the tourism economy of Northern Arizona they touch so many people by helping to save their jobs and livelihood.”

Vail also wants to stress the availability of  Small Business Association loans for those impacted by the fire. Follow this link for more information.

Hobbs remarked, “While we mourn the destruction and continue to support firefighting efforts, we must also take action to support the northern Arizona communities who have been affected by the fires .”

Additionally, Hobbs traveled to the North and South Rim of the Grand Canyon to highlight the economic recovery efforts and make clear that the South Rim is open for business.

Governor Hobbs has directed state agencies to conduct a thorough review of all resources that may be available to support recovery efforts. Actions taken or planned by the State of Arizona include:

The Arizona Department of Transportation is establishing a No Cost Land Use (LAU) Agreement with the National Interagency Fire Center with BLM for the use of the Jacob's Lake Maintenance Yard for placement of water tanks and staging area for heavy equipment to support fire suppression. They are also ensuring National Park Service and National Forest know how the State may assist in reopening roads on federal land, if needed and permitted, to get tourists back into and around Northern Arizona.

Arizona Health Services and Arizona Department of Water Resource are teaming up to ensure private well owners are aware of funds available to test their water supplies, which is recommended after a fire burns over a well.
