Former Vice-Mayor’s Request to Open a Liquor Store Gets Fast Track Approval
January 3, 2013
Cecily Maniaci has convinced the Tusayan Town Council that the community needs another liquor store. The Town Council approved the request at its December 19th meeting. Maniaci, made a rare visit to the Council to make the case for another liquor store in town, which will be located near the Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau.
Council Bill Fitzgerald expressed concern about the number of liquor stores in one part of town, “Do we really want to see that?”
The rapid approval process was in stark contrast to the protracted process endured by Plaza Bonita, when it sought a liquor license for the new restaurant. In that instance applications had to be filed and re-filed before the license was eventually granted.
