Tusayan Welcomes News Of Reopening of Grand Canyon National Park Lodging

December 15, 2025

The planned reopening on December 17th of lodging at the South rim of Grand Canyon Nation Park is welcome news for Tusayan. Mayor Clarinda Vail said, “I am thrilled that concessionaire employees can go back to work. 2025 has been a rough year for Grand Canyon National Park and here’s to a brighter 2026.”

Lodging closed December 6th because of a significant break in the Transcanyon Waterline. Repairs are now complete. Grand Canyon South Rim remained open for day use and visits after December 6th. Services in Tusayan were not impacted by the waterline issues.

However, Tusayan tourism was likely impacted as overall Grand Canyon visitation dropped because of the waterline break.
