An estimated 5,000 people attended Tusayan’s Fourth of July celebration that included a parade, patriotic music, family activities and a nighttime drone show. 

The holiday event, held along Highway 64 and near the IMAX Grand Canyon Visitors Center, brought together residents, visitors, local organizations and vendors for an afternoon and evening celebration.

This year, the Grand Marshal of the parade was Andrew Aldaz, outgoing Tusayan Town Councilman and longtime community volunteer. He was  recognized for his years of public service and commitment to Tusayan.

After the parade, the celebration continued with live music, food and drink vendors, children’s activities, games, a cornhole tournament, local artisans, and cultural performances. The evening concluded after dark with a drone light show visible from the event grounds.

This year’s celebration also carried added patriotic significance. In addition to marking America’s 250th anniversary, it also marks the 100th anniversary of Historic Route 66.

Town Manager Greg Clifton said, "The food was great, and the music was energizing.  And what a drone show!  A lot of happy faces as we celebrated our Nation's 250th birthday!"
