Tusayan sets November timeline to fill council vacancy
October 14, 2026
Tusayan officials are seeking applicants for an upcoming Town Council vacancy and hope to select a replacement at the council’s Nov. 10 meeting. During the last election there were more vacancies than candidates and Councilman Andrew Aldaz's term expires at the end of the year.
During an Oct. 13 discussion, council members reviewed the application process and agreed that residents should be reminded of the opportunity to apply. Qualified residents wishing to apply can get more information and an application by following this link.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 6. The council discussed reviewing submissions before its Nov. 10 meeting, inviting applicants for interviews and potentially choosing a replacement that evening.
Vail pressed for a clear timetable for applicants. “We’d have in between the 6th to see who we have and the 10th to invite them to come,” she said, referring to the application deadline and the next council meeting.
The discussion indicated that a person selected in November would take a seat in December. Town officials also discussed orientation and training for new council members.
