“SBA loans help eligible small businesses and private nonprofits cover operating expenses after a disaster, which is crucial for their recovery,” said Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the SBA Office of Disaster Recovery. He said the loans also support local economies as communities recover.

The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program is open to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and private nonprofit organizations, including faith-based organizations, with financial losses directly related to the disaster. Agricultural producers, farmers and ranchers are not eligible, except for small aquaculture enterprises.

Loan terms and how to apply
Economic Injury Disaster Loans may be used for working-capital needs caused by the disaster, even when an applicant did not sustain physical damage. Eligible uses include fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that could not be paid because of the disaster.

Loans may be available for up to $2 million. Interest rates can be as low as 4% for businesses and 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations, with terms of up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue and payments are not due until 12 months after the first loan disbursement. The SBA determines eligibility, loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition.

Applications may be submitted online at sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may also call the SBA National Support Network Center at (866) SBA-HELP or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability may dial 7-1-1 for telecommunications relay services.

The deadline to submit economic injury applications is July 13, 2027.
