July 13, 2015
Tusayan's 4th of July Celebration honored the Grand Canyon National Park's founding fathers. The parade celebrated four American Presidents who greatly affected Grand Canyon National Park: Benjamin Harrison, Theodore Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnston & Gerald Ford.
The event was sponsored by the Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitor's Bureau.
Canyon Plaza Resort won the Best Spirit award trophy and the Best Western Squire Inn won the Grand Marshall Award. The celebration is a 37 year tradition for Tusayan. In addition to the parade, there was also a Kids Zone with games and races and a bicycle decorating contest.
“It was a great success. We had more bicycle entries then we have had in a long time. After expenses, the effort raised about $7,000 which will go to the non-profit Grand Canyon Chamber and Visitor’s Bureau,” said Clarinda Vail, Chamber President and Event organizer. Vail also thanked the participants who made it possible.
