Kaibab Learning Center Thriving Again
September 28, 2016
The Tusayan Town Council’s decision to give some financial support to the Kaibab Learning Center is paying off. Director Michelle Hall delivered the good news. The funding resulted in the state of Arizona upgrading the facility to a four star rating. As a result Quality First, operated by Arizona, funded more scholarships.
Enrollment is up from 40 to 66 kids and seven of them are on scholarship. The funds also put more teachers in the classrooms.
Councilman Montoya noted this an example of spending taxpayer dollars in a beneficial way and he would like the town to do more for the center in the future. Hal said in the future the Center may need some more playground equipment.
Hall recently took over as director. In additiona to getting a better handle on the budget, she also reached out to the council for financial help.
At a September 21st council meeting she delivered a detailed reponse as to how the money was spent.
