Media Outlets Outside Tusayan Are Taking Notice
July 5, 2011
On the heels of a recent High Country News story exposing the corporate connections in Tusayan, comes another story from the Arizona Republic looking at the challenges facing the Grand Canyon. They include air pollution, aircraft noise, uranium mining, and controlled floods. Here is a link to the series.
The attention is refreshing because it brings into focus the crisis facing Tusayan and the threats posed by outside developers such as Stilo. After purchasing an incorporation vote and getting its slate of candidates elected, Stilo and its partners are now making a full court press to get their development plan through the Town Council.
Outside press makes that job more difficult because it lets Stilo know that Arizona and the western United States are watching.
