Grand Canyon School District Brings Art And Music To Tusayan
January 25, 2017
Ms. Rita Linneman’s 4th grade class at the Grand Canyon School District took top honors for a contest on water ethics sponsored by the Coconino Plateau Water Advisory Partnership. The idea is to convey the importance of protecting water through art and an essay. There were 200 entries from 10 schools. Two of the top entries came from Ms. Linemann’s class. Jaemie Jensen took first place for art and her essay. Rem Chenevert took second place for art.
The art will be on display at NAU and a first Friday Art Walk in Flagstaff. It was also displayed at a recent Tusayan Town Council meeting.
Linemann said, “I am just so really proud of them. We have been doing this water project for the last couple of years. We had never gotten any winners and then all of a sudden, wow.” She added, “This is really fun to be recognized for their work and their efforts.”
The Grand Canyon High School is thanking Tusayan for its recent help. The Town recently gave the school funds to purchase new instruments to replace some that were in poor shape. The band thanked the town with a mini-concert at a recent Town Council meeting. Here is a link.
